My grandfather has started collecting air force unit patches. Anyone know a good reference book that covers air force patches?

Thanks in advance

What information are you looking for? But GWB123 is correct, best place to start is there. AF patches are so different from any other service. So many different squadrons and then redesignations.

Just looking for a list or guide for all the different patches. Luckily most of them are labeled what they are so identification is not too difficult.

Jerome Polder published a whole series of books on Air Force patches and mottoes. Do a computer search for "Aeroemblems", and you should find more info about these. Thousands of Air Force patches are covered in this series of books.

Thats the guy. I could find my books to give you a name. He has 2 books with mottos and a ton of other great information. The patch books are good but keep in mind they are b/w and lack some details because of that. Still a great series as there are very few books on USAF patches.
