I picked this up from the vets son a couple days ago. Most of his dads stuff is sold but a managed to get some and a few more things exist. He said his dad won the silver star twice and the bronze star twice with once being for valor. He said his dad told him that he was company H of the 26th regiment on D day in the second wave and that he came in at an angle to a large pill box and that saved him.

The group is a clock that he had made for his dad that he apparently used his theatre made ribbon bars to glue to clock and his CIB, his two bronze stars (one with later block letters and one with script lettering), and according to him(I’m not a patch guy) his dad’s original 1939 1st ID patch that he wore then when he served with the 1st ID in Vietnam for 2 tours with the Army Security Agency his dad gave it to him to wear on his uniform(he said he caught some flak).

The son had some really neat stories to tell and was third generation 1st ID with his grandfather serving in WW1. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Clock says he was a Command Sergeant Major and did 24 years. Served in Korea as well.

Bronze Star (2nd is probably CIB conversion):

It does look like both SS were for WWII:

Picked up the books and a couple pictures of him in Korea in 1951. The Vietnam book was his and he said he would sell it because he was Army Security Agency assigned to the 1st ID and they never mentioned them in the book so he would part with it. Quick search made it look like the WW2 1st ID books aren’t very common (I didn’t find any).Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
