First army sleeve patch.

This patch is off one of my Dads uniforms. He was in the First army and transferred to the six army where he spent 3,5 years in the Pacific.

My question is, I haven't seen this color combo "first army patch" anywhere else? Gold letter on green background.

Just curious.

Was he in the Quartermaster Corps, the A, might be Buff, if that's the case, then what he had was a variant, a variant never seen as of yet, as these are as you know are with the branch color/colors in the upper voided area of the A.

Refer to the Trading Post October-December, 1993 issue, on cover review of First Army Woolies. Subject patch -- gold embroidery on OD wool -- listed as "Red Army/Umpire?"

Further information. The 1st Army was apparently the "red army" in the 1941 maneuvers. Supposedly this subject patch worn by umpires in this mock battle. A similar patch -- red embroidery on OD wool -- exists for the umpires on the opposite force during these battles.

I believe he was Quartermaster when he first.entered. I have a lapel pin here somewhere. He was in ordinance when he entered the 6th. (Not that has anything to do with the patch posted).
