Several years ago, I purchased this WWI recruiting poster but have never been able to find very much information on it. Today that changed, I was researching another topic and looking through some online newspapers when I found an article about the poster that even discusses the artist.

The poster was produced for the Second Indiana Field Artillery, part of the Indiana National Guard that was formed in 1918. The First Indiana Field Artillery was Federalized and reorganized into the 150th Field Artillery, 42nd Division. The Second was formed but never Federalized.

The artist is J.D. Ross, an employee of the Walter-Ball Printing Company which printed the posters. The "tradition of Indiana" refers to the artillery units that were formed here and that had served in Federal service since the Mexican-American war.

Now I need to change the framing of the poster to included the box that is shown below it in the article.

Really a great piece and nice find to add to the history. Does that building still exist?
