Moonbeam was one of the airborne command and control orbits over Laos (7th ABCCC Sq). Moonbeam flew at night and kept track of the air war over Laos and North Vietnam.

I got more of the group. Wondered when velcro was first used?

He was in the 14th Air Commando Wing. Served 1966-67

Probably served with the 7th Airborne Command on a later tour?

The earliest I have picture proof of USAF Velcro use of was 1967. Interestingly, at first a lot of it was worn with the hook part on the uniform and the pile part on the patch.

That Alpha Flight is unique... most like representing the trucks that were targeted on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Post strike Battle Damage Assessment teams used to count the number of trucks that were destroyed as a measure of success.

I agree with the time frame on the velcro, I have a tiger flight suit form that time frame with it sewn on the patches etc.

These ABCCC guys were loaded into a C-130 and flown over Laos coordinating battles or disrupting the HCM Trail. Pretty interesting job.
