ccmax Posted February 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2007 In this image, a squad from 1st Brazilian Infantry regiment during Operation Encore. These men belonged to the 2nd Battalion, and are advacing in support of 10th Mountain Division troops. The American advance occurred behind the rocky mass of hills seen in the background. This pic was taken exactly 62 years ago, around 21-23 February 1945. From the 22nd on, a series of counter attacks from the German 29th Pz. Grenadier division were pushed back by the unit in the pic. ccmax Posted February 23, 2007 Author Share #2 Posted February 23, 2007 A squad from the Brazilian recon company after they relieved troops from the 10th Mountain Division, this is around March 1945. This photo was taken on top of Riva Ridge. I have many more images from Riva Ridge should anyone be interested.

ccmax Posted February 27, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks for the comments and here follow a few more. Again, this is on top of Riva Ridge (what the Americans called Monte Serrasciccia). The photo comes from the personal album of a good friend of mine, who can be seen behind the .30 cal. ccmax Posted February 27, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 27, 2007 The album is nearly impossible to scan given its frail condition... so the photos I took are not the best. Here, the album owner can be seen to the left of the photograph, along with Americans from the 10th Mountain division.
