BILL THE PATCH Posted July 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 3, 2018 I recently won this on eBay, it was only a simple class A with a 9th arm patch and CIB which caught my eye. The description stated it belonged to her father. So I messaged the seller and asked he she had any other paperwork articles. Her reply was a couple of pictures and she could give me copies of discharge. So I took a chance. She said she would send everything along with uniform. I was shocked when I received the package. Two full picture album's of him and his brother who was in the Navy. Well it turns out the Joe Serreti was in the 8th A/F stationed in England, having been a cadet in the states. I guess after Hitler's surprise attack in the Ardennes replacement's we're needed. So Joe was transferred into ytge 9th arm div, 60th Armored infantry bn. I love when a simple class A uniform, Turns out to be one hell of a story. The album's are fantastic with Air force and infantry pics. Also lots of the brother who was on a sub chaser 479. When I contacted the women to thank her and offer some more money she said not necessary to. Then told me there is lots more but it's packed away for a move. She took my contact info and said she'll be in touch. Here are some pics

WWIIinterviews Posted July 3, 2018 Share #11 Posted July 3, 2018 Great find! Really nice grouping. So the brother, Joe, was in the 315th TCG 34th SQ, any glider photos or other C-47?
1canpara Posted July 3, 2018 Share #12 Posted July 3, 2018 Wow Bill! That's quite the uniform! Incredible that he went from 20,000 feet over Germany to on the ground during the Bulge! From fly boy to tank boy! Quite amazing! Hope you get some of the other stuff from the lady! Congrats! Rick

BILL THE PATCH Posted July 3, 2018 Author Share #14 Posted July 3, 2018 Great find! Really nice grouping. So the brother, Joe, was in the 315th TCG 34th SQ, any glider photos or other C-47?Why do you think that?, All I know was that he was a sheet metal specialist in the 8th a/f repairing damaged planes. Is there something in one of the pictures that's tells you that? Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
bobgee Posted July 3, 2018 Share #15 Posted July 3, 2018 Great find! Lucky too, that the daughter has entrusted you with her Dad's memories. Congrats! Bob
BILL THE PATCH Posted July 4, 2018 Author Share #16 Posted July 4, 2018 Yes I was lucky, I had a feeling it was a AIB since it had a couple in with an Armored five unit. The daughter was great to talk to. I explained I'm a collector and love history. She's glad someone will take care of it. Her father also worked for Sikorsky helicopter co. And retired years later. Tons of great pictures I didn't want to upload that many. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
Timberwolf Posted July 4, 2018 Share #17 Posted July 4, 2018 Man great group! I had a similar story with a 104th ID group. Was there ever a patch on the other shoulder?
