BILL THE PATCH

I recently won this on eBay, it was only a simple class A with a 9th arm patch and CIB which caught my eye. The description stated it belonged to her father. So I messaged the seller and asked he she had any other paperwork articles. Her reply was a couple of pictures and she could give me copies of discharge. So I took a chance. She said she would send everything along with uniform. I was shocked when I received the package. Two full picture album's of him and his brother who was in the Navy. Well it turns out the Joe Serreti was in the 8th A/F stationed in England, having been a cadet in the states. I guess after Hitler's surprise attack in the Ardennes replacement's we're needed. So Joe was transferred into ytge 9th arm div, 60th Armored infantry bn. I love when a simple class A uniform, Turns out to be one hell of a story.

The album's are fantastic with Air force and infantry pics. Also lots of the brother who was on a sub chaser 479. When I contacted the women to thank her and offer some more money she said not necessary to. Then told me there is lots more but it's packed away for a move. She took my contact info and said she'll be in touch. Here are some picspost-11207-0-54217400-1530645695_thumb.jpgpost-11207-0-10086800-1530645677_thumb.jpgpost-11207-0-35810000-1530645655_thumb.jpg

Great find! Really nice grouping. So the brother, Joe, was in the 315th TCG 34th SQ, any glider photos or other C-47?

Wow Bill! That's quite the uniform! Incredible that he went from 20,000 feet over Germany to on the ground during the Bulge! From fly boy to tank boy! :o Quite amazing! Hope you get some of the other stuff from the lady! Congrats!

Why do you think that?, All I know was that he was a sheet metal specialist in the 8th a/f repairing damaged planes. Is there something in one of the pictures that's tells you that?

Yes I was lucky, I had a feeling it was a AIB since it had a couple in with an Armored five unit. The daughter was great to talk to. I explained I'm a collector and love history. She's glad someone will take care of it. Her father also worked for Sikorsky helicopter co. And retired years later. Tons of great pictures I didn't want to upload that many.

Man great group! I had a similar story with a 104th ID group. Was there ever a patch on the other shoulder?
