Flying Tigers Trivia

Recently I saw a tv show about the history of the Flying Tigers. There was one nurse interviewed who served with the AVG prior to the U.S. entry into the war. Her name was Emma Jane Hanks. She mentioned another nurse, Josie, going over with her on the ship. I have found info on-line about Emma but not Josie.

 

According to the AVG roster I found on-line, there was a chief nurse named Jo Buckner Stewart. I cannot find any information on this chief nurse. Have any of you Flying Tiger enthusiasts read anything about these nurses and might be able to shed some light?

 

One other piece of trivia is that the AVG roster also lists a male nurse, Robert Gallagher.

Hi cutiger83/Kat,

 

Sometime last year I got some of Gallagher's item. But after checking, I have AVG Crew Chief then USAAF Ace Pilot Edward F. Gallagher's militaria. Sorry...You have to check if he attended any of those AVG Flying Tigers reunions, association meetings. As long as he's listed there, he'll have a picture.

 

You can check Mrs. Lydia Rossi's FT Assoc site and ask them directly for further information.
