Any comments from the USMC squadron patch guys on the vintage/origin? It's embroidered on a twill like base. Millstein says wool.No glow on front - light glow on base material only on reverse. Is it 1944-46 vintage? The squadron had a relatively short life; was activated at MCAS Mojave Feb 1944 - deployed for combat aboard USS Bunker Hill in Jan 1945. Deactivated Sept 1945.

Comments and comparisons welcome. Semper Fi.......Bobgee

Bob just my opinion I think it's a high quality copy.It also looks artificially aged and as short a time that they were around why something so completely out of the norm.Scotty

Thanks Bill - I picked it up as a toss-up. Feels & looks good in hand. Seller was a picker not a patch guy. Millstein has 1 example and it's darn close design-wise. Oh well! Caveat Emptor ! Regards......Bob

These USMC squadron patches are so well documented now, it's really hard to accept this one as anything but a copy. Jeffro

It is a copy. I posted the squadron history here. There are a number of USMC insignia n this same style, all copies.

Thanks for the comments & the comparison. Hadn't come across this style of manufacture before. Certainly not a Paki piece. Any idea when & where they were made? What other squadrons have been observed? Bobgee
