mccooper Posted June 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2018 At the museum where I volunteer (MAPS Air Museum, N. Canton, OH), we will soon be receiving a donation of a WWII era custom-made fighting knife. It will be donated by the son of the original owner. Good story: his father carried it in WWII in the PTO, then gave it to his son when the son went to Viet Nam. We intend to display this piece, both for the father-son military service aspect, and the knife itself. The father lived in the small town of Nokomis, IL, when he left for service. The story is that a knife maker in that town gave his knives to all men from Nokomis who went to war during WWII. Many family tales are apocryphal, but this one seems logical. Except, no one in Nokomis can ID the maker. Any one out there who could add to this story? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. mccooper
