Timberwolf Posted June 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2018 Hey all, Just picked up this grouping from the vets son via ebay. Kept a majority of it together and the son was nice enough to scan me a few photos of his dad in the service. Cpl P.O. R a i ch e enlisted 12/31/41 and was discharged in January of 46. He served with the 9th for a Majority of their campaigns. He trained at Parris Island and headed to Guantanamo Bay. In November of 42 he was in New Caladonia. He then was involved in the Guadalcanal Campaign from December of 42 to June of 43. Then in Jun of 43 the 9th Def. Bn. saw action in Rendova and New Georgia until December of 43. R a i c h e along with the 9th was sent to the Russel Islands from December of 43 to Jun of 44. His final action would take place on Guam from July of 44 until the end of the battle. He served on Guam until November of 44. He rotated home and served in Norfolk VA from January 45 to January 46 at the prison. He passed only a year or so ago in Feb of 2017. All in all a really great grouping to a long serving Cpl. I've always been a fan of the V MAC patch and this grouping was up my ally. It included his service coat, great coat, paperwork, extra ribbons. I can't wait to send away for his file!
