Found this interesting picture while searching for 83rd division overlays Goslar area. Never seen a twin machinegun mount on a jeep. A pic from the 83rd near Goslar/Germany.

The ammo cans are standard M17 ground cans, not aircraft. But the full length barrel jackets are the give-away that these are M3 aircraft guns.

Thank`s for all the informations. This was the only picture with this jeep so I have no idea of the mounting. The 83rd was named "Rag Tag Circus" because they use every vehicle they can find, seems they used weapons, too.

OK, can see the can when enlarged, tablet pics are small, IIRC,A/C cans were fiber, look almost the same. A steel plate would have to be fitted and attached to the jeep floor for this to work. We mounted an M-2 in a M151, lasted less than 1 can at the range.
