Backtheattack Posted June 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2018 Found this interesting picture while searching for 83rd division overlays Goslar area. Never seen a twin machinegun mount on a jeep. A pic from the 83rd near Goslar/Germany.

USARV72 Posted June 17, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2018 Ammo cans give it away as A/C. Would !like to see how it was mounted to jeeps floor.
Garandomatic Posted June 17, 2018 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2018 I bet it was short-lived unless they really did a good job!
robinb Posted June 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2018 The ammo cans are standard M17 ground cans, not aircraft. But the full length barrel jackets are the give-away that these are M3 aircraft guns.
Backtheattack Posted June 18, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted June 18, 2018 Thank`s for all the informations. This was the only picture with this jeep so I have no idea of the mounting. The 83rd was named "Rag Tag Circus" because they use every vehicle they can find, seems they used weapons, too.

A steel plate would have to be fitted and attached to the jeep floor for this to work. We mounted an M-2 in a M151, lasted less than 1 can at the range.
