Catfishcraig Posted June 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2018 I just purchased this FS schlueter Helmet off eBay. The Firestone Liner is marked with a large P on the front. Does anyone know the meaning of the marking? Thanks Craig
Burning Hazard Posted June 17, 2018 Share #2 Posted June 17, 2018 I haven't seen anything like this before, the 'P' could mean almost anything, from Navy to possible civilian use. Hopefully someone will be able to ID it. Pat

ken88 Posted June 17, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 17, 2018 Schlueter + Firestone is commonly associated with the navy. The first thing the P reminds me off is press... Maybe photographer? Just an idea... Nice helmet!
Burning Hazard Posted June 17, 2018 Share #5 Posted June 17, 2018 Ken, if Navy it could be anything, maybe a station named 'P' or a crane named 'P' or maybe an initial of the owner so he could find it quickly. Maybe it is a photographer, hard to say. Pat
doyler Posted June 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2018 On clothing in WW2 "P"was typically for Prisoner".Those that were in a military prison. Clothing Marked "PW" was "Prisoners of War" This said I dont think there was a need for a liner for persons in military prison. Guards were normal Military Police. As stated it could mean anything.
