WWIIinterviews Posted June 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2018 Is there a way to find out the history of a parachute by any of the numbers on it? Order, Serial or Canopy ASSY. DWG. number? I have a couple of pics, but too big to post.
phantomfixer Posted June 14, 2018 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2018 Those numbers will help ID the parachute assembly, date it, and maybe it's intended mission......The best way to know about it's history/operational use, is the log book, if it has one.. WWII Parachutist Posted June 15, 2018 Share #3 Posted June 15, 2018 The order number, serial number, drawing number, and contract number are all helpful in figuring out exactly what type of parachute you have or when it could have been issued. However, if you are trying to track it to a specific individual or unit, that it much more difficult. Like phantomfixer said, the log book will have many of those details in it. What exactly do you have, a canopy, pack, harness, complete unit? Depending on what you have, you can often see some indications of its service life.
