M6 leather scabbards

Before this large number of repo m6 scabbards appeared on eBay I bought one with a knife that was said to be authentic. It has all the features I see in other scabbard s including appropriate wear. The reverse is not as rough as some of the repos are but it is not completely smooth either. What sets this scabbard apart is that it has no maker Mark on it. Instead someone has embossed the scabbard with six small wheels and spokes on the leather where the maker Mark would be. This would be wise so that a serviceman could identify his knife if he took it off or some one stole it. My question is were any m6 scabbards issued with no manufacturing Mark on them? Thanks Jeff

THere have been others posted here with the markings stamped out.

Its my understanding it was post war done when the items were surplused.

Typically the throat staples will becovered as well with a strip of leather

Really if a serviceman wanted to "mark" his knife and scabbard many did so with a serial number, name, initials or all of them

Jeff- That M6 is an L&C scabbard. I have 3 L&Cs, all have the floral type over stamp, some you can read the original stamp & partial date. Believe this was done post war, and sold to companies like Imperial. I have two mint guard mark ground off M3s (Imperials), that came w/ these scabbards. You will also note that there was a leather strap that covered the staples, that someone has cut out the middle section. Bill Walters has one pictured on page 100, (scabbard in the middle), in his M3/M4 book. L&C must have surplused a lot of overstamped M6s, because that is what I generally come across. More than likely happened after the M8s were adopted. It's a legit M6! Thanks for showing! SKIP

Jeff- Lyon & Coulson. M6 scabbard. You're thinking of "Landers, Frary, & Clark" (LF&C) knives. SKIP

L&C scabbards are the easiest first look scabbards to identify as they are the only scabbard with long staples. As Skip mentions they must have been late to the show because there are lots of them that were demilled and many of them can be found with imperial (post war?) parts knives or ground guards.
