Craighead 1943 Hip Holster Abnormality

Just acquired a very nice Craighead 1943 Hip Holster in excellent condition...except for one glaring abnormality: No wire for web belt. Looking closely, it appears that there never was one installed. Looking for input from learned contributors here. Was this an oversight or intentional? Could still be used on a Sam Brown or similar belt.

I had one of these to put with with my Colt Commando back in the day. When they are minty-looking they will have the natural leather flesh tone color to them......I will suggest that someone probably just cut the wire hanger out of it with snips as not to damage it, but there is always room for an anomaly as well.

Agree with Everforward that the wire hook has been removed. It is still a very nice holster. You can also repair it. You need a brass wire hanger that you can heat up and straighten a bit.....run it thru the loop then carefully heat it up again and re-bend it. You can make a mold to help you bend it nicely. On the other hand if you want to sell it, i’m Interested in buying it.

Thanks to all for the input. FWIW, there is no trace of there ever being a hook installed. That, plus the darker color and I get the impression that it was specifically fashioned for an officer's rig. Make sense to anyone? Oh, yeah, Ronnie...appreciate the offer but this one's a keeper. If I decide to add the brass wire, it should be no problem. I'm a retired jeweler.

I'm not too sure hook was removed. If so it leaves some marks on leather. Check for it. I had a mint 1943 Craighead M1916 which never got an hook. Workers sometimes are sleeping.
