Anyone know what these WWI patches are?

I"m stumped, I'm sure they are something simple but I haven't been able to find them. I just purchased a trunk with three WWI US gas masks that have been sitting in a barn for at least several decades. One of the bags was for a British SBR mask and as I was shaking the dirt, rust and dead bugs out these came out as well.

It's the first time I've seen one without the AA.

Found a bullion 33rd Div patch in a gasmask bag years ago.

Yes they are 82nd Div and some say the first version of the patch and made that way on purpose and were not incompletely made or missing the AA letters.
