Picked these up today at a gun/militaria show. Had a great conversation with a kid working the table who is clearly passionate about preserving the history of these items.

What's really cool is the rabbits foot on the Beal tags. I've only ever seen them with the fur still there but it adds a ton of character. Sadly I can't find anything on these two men.

Coll about the Columbus tags! His parents were William C. Brown, Sr. and Mabel C. (That is his mother listed on the tag.) In 1940, he and his wife, Margaret, were living with his parents at the Dunedin address. He was working as an accountant at a Linoleum company, and his wife was a stenographer at the public schools.

I think this is going to be his HS pic:

T5 Charles Homer Beal - An assistant medical technician, T5 Charles Homer Beal, son of C .H. Beal of Hazzard, has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in Germany from October 28, 1941 to March 3, 1945 in connection with military operations against the enemy in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. The citation accompanying the award went on to say that "T5 Beal worked untiringly and faithfully in maintaining a high standard of health in his battalion despite extremely unfavorable conditions. When casualties became heavy, he operated a forward collections point from which he directed litter bearer teams and devised the evacuation of all the wounded. His resourcefulness and unselfish devotion to duty were instrumental in the prompt treatment of the wounded and their immediate evacuation to rear installations. Corporal Beal entered the service July 9, 1943 and received his training at Camp Grant, III. Prior to his induction he was in Washington. In addition to the Bronze Star Medal the Hazzard soldier also holds the Meritorious Service Plaque. Mrs. Gertrude Beal has returned to her home in the Markell apartments from a 10-days stay in Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, where she underwent medical treatment.
