ajbUSWM Posted May 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2018 Very interesting MINIATURE Navy Cross WWII period Ribbon Bar I picked this up because I knew it was 1946ish with the Purple Heart construction. The ribbons are a bit worn but I love the old look. Your thoughts on if I should restore the ribbons or not? Just leave it? Perhaps I could reverse the existing ribbons which seem to have aged very well? I have a 1940s roll of Navy Cross miniature ribbon (which is very hard to find) and perhaps all of them. So it is likely I can restore to original condition. Too bad there isn't a few more unique award to help identify him. Just for fun I am searching my database to find USN/USMC officers who was awarded the Navy Cross and Silver Star during WWII, no WWI service and was wounded... found quite a few. Started with 101 possibilities, down to 7...once I shoot off FOIA requests I'm confident I'll know for certain Lack of devices coupled with no service specific awards makes your task harder. Not uncommon for minis of the era to omit battle stars, but doesn't help when trying to identify. Also keep in mind could be missing a second row. 7 per row is USMC regs, though of course not always followed in the era.
