bellasilva Posted May 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2018 It's been a while since I picked up a good pair of tags. Just got these on eBay a few hours ago. This Sailor served on board the USS Williamson from March 1942 until after the end of the war. He is listed in the USN/USMC/USCG casualty list. There are records of two instances when Williamson Sailors were wounded. First was when two Japanese aircraft strafed the ship, wounding 6, and another when some depth charges from a PBY that was being towed were knocked loose and exploded, wounding 16. I am definitely going to order his file to shed some light on what incident he was involved in. The tag on the right is a super salty acid etched finger print tag. Love the dates on these, as they no doubt saw some combat action with him during his time in the PTO

USdog Posted May 17, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 17, 2018 Nice! WIA Navy tags are tough to come by. But I have found a couple in the past year. One of them being a WIA PH vet!!!
bellasilva Posted May 17, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted May 17, 2018 Thanks! Besides the Indy tag that you now have these are the only ones I have ever picked up. Going to be an interesting file for sure.
