British Glider Infantry Wing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I took a punt on this glider infantry wing recently as it was dirt cheap but am unsure as to its age/authenticity.

The pin and hinge look typically British but I’ve not seen the catch type before. Also, it seems to be made of some kind of pit metal rather than the typical brass used for British wings.

Has anyone seen anything like it before or would hazard a guess as to its origin?

I'm no expert on these Wings, but having stated that,I like this Wing.If I had seen this for sale for "dirt cheap" I would have picked it up too.
It appears to be well made, and the clasp is interesting.Looks like a safety pin type closure.Pretty clever. Not sure where it was made,if I had to guess I would say England.

This wing is a one looker- 100% original. The "safety pin" catch is one that is sometimes seen on British made wings. It was undoubtedly made in England during WWII.

The glider badge was not just worn by infantry troops. It was also worn by other branches like artillery, engineer, etc.

Thanks both. It’s going from my holding area into the collection!

That is exactly where it belongs.
