warpath Posted May 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2018 17th Century Colonial period Spanish Cup Hilt Rapier also called a Soldier’s Sword and Caribbean Rapier as illustrated in Arms and Armor in Colonial America, Peterson, pl.78, and Spanish Military Weapons in Colonial America, Brinkerhoff & Chamberlain. A classic sword produced by blacksmiths and cutlers in the New World, a cruder version of contemporary Continental swords that lacked aesthetic concerns and were utilitarian and functional weapons more readily produced. warpath Posted May 9, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted May 9, 2018 Relatively crude construction compared to the Continental versions of the rapier, but a very effective well made and balanced blade that saw service in the New World.
