U.S. Army Cap with Wings patch (1960's) with a "2"? - Class cap

Hi,

I believe this is from the 1960s, but I am unsure of what wings with the "2" means. Can anyone tell me what it stands for?

These wings look to me just like the solo helicopter pilot wings from Fort Wolters students but instead of the "S" there is a "2" on the shield.

Any help with an i.d. would me most appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

-Derek

Patchcollector

That could be a designation for a unit number,or possibly a second flight?

I went through flight school at Fort Wolters in 1968. At the time there were only four Warrant Officer Candidate (WOC) classes and each class had its own color baseball cap. I was in 2nd WOC and we wore green hats and when we soloed we put the wings on our cap. I don't recall ever seeing any caps with numbers. First WOC were the red hats, but I don't recall the colors of the 3rd and 4th WOC.

Here's a nice salty cap I picked up. It has the wings with the "2" in the middle.
