Going off to War - 1918

While searching through a photo collection related to the Silver Valley mining region of northern Idaho, I came across some photos of new recruits going off to war. These two photos show the men marching to great fan-fare through Wallace, Idaho to board a waiting train at the depot. As this is the ORW&N (Union Pacific) depot, the train would be heading west toward Spokane, and probably on to Camp Lewis (or was it Ft. Lewis by then?) south of Tacoma.

Enjoy,

Brian

I should note that these photos are public domain, and available for free download from the University of Idaho digital collections.
