scotdan Posted April 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 18, 2018 I recently picked up what I believe to be an authentic piece but there is no date or maker markings as is usually seen. Can anyone help me in determining when this piece may have been made? Thanks for any help you can provide.
doyler Posted April 18, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 18, 2018 Looks fine I have encountered WW1 era manufactured holsters that are unmarked or just marked with inspector stamps.

Lsparks Posted April 19, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 19, 2018 Maybe a pic of the back, please? The front looks good to me, the “us oval” is nice and deep. The only repro I have seen has a terrible, lightly pressed oval. I agree, I’ve seen some (have one) that are or seem to be unmarked. I’m not an expert, but I would have picked it up too. Lsparks Posted April 27, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2018 I have always suspected the brass belt hooks to be earlier, perhaps no later than 1940/41? I think you've got a really nice piece!

artu44 Posted May 17, 2018 Share #8 Posted May 17, 2018 Usually brass hook indicates WWI era. The flattened bottom "U" is often encountered on commercial M1916s. Strangely enough the big US is not horizontal.
