Hi, again! Cleaning my old letter bins and found this! Vaguely remember having this as a little girl. What is it? Looks like it could hold a credit card or ID card or something. Are these issue items? Any guess on era? Thanks for any thoughts!

Looks like an ID card holder available for purchase at the PX.

I agree.............There was a time, if not in uniform, your ID was presented everywhere you went on base to enter any facility.

I gotta go along with photo holder, you put your sweetie's picture in the window carry it in your pocket and when you sit down to write a letter you open it up and stand it on end and gaze at it for inspiration. Or you could stand it on the shelf of your locker or on your foot locker and easily remove it and take it with you.

Cool item... I have one identical to yours... Mine came in a WWII Army Nurse's russet purse, along with other minutiae... (She was stationed at Ft. Lawton c1944-45). So I'd want to date yours in that era. Seemingly an officer item...
