644td Posted April 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2018 It was a good afternoon, I picked up this grouping today out of the woodwork. The grouping is named to Joseph L. Greene Jr. 14171117 who served with the 82nd Cml. Bn. I will be listing everything in the grouping section this week sometime with more info. Enjoy, Marty

Der Finn Posted April 9, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2018 Patch is XIV Corps (14th). Nice group! In all of my years of collecting, never had a group with a helmet in it - everything else, but never a helmet!

In all of my years of collecting, never had a group with a helmet in it - everything else, but never a helmet! Thank you for the information. I just got this today right after church and have not even gone through everything. There is a dairy in the batch. Marty

644td Posted April 9, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted April 9, 2018 The liner is a Westinghouse liner. I believe it would be a factory applied camo pattern liner.
king802 Posted April 9, 2018 Share #9 Posted April 9, 2018 Excellent group and an added bonus to find a Westinghouse Jungle Liner. Well done. Great find. Rich
644td Posted April 9, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted April 9, 2018 I forgot about the Westinghouse camo liners. When I saw it I knew there was something special about it but could not remember what it was and I guess from my title it was obvious. I should have have lead with the liner in the title. Ray175INF Posted April 10, 2018 Share #13 Posted April 10, 2018 It does not get much better than this, between that canteen/Nambu and all the other goodies this grouping rocks Ray
atb Posted April 10, 2018 Share #14 Posted April 10, 2018 Can anyone ID this patch? The nambu is all matching except for the mag. XIV Corps, and, it was sewn on upside down.
644td Posted April 10, 2018 Author Share #15 Posted April 10, 2018 XIV Corps, and, it was sewn on upside down. LOL I did not even see that the patch was upside down. I have been reading the few things in his dairy and there seemed to be a lot of daily air raids and a lot of night duty and very little sleep. On one day he saw 1400 dead Japanese in place. There is not a lot written down but it does give you a insight to daily life. One quote that stood out was " the shelling was so bad I thought I was going to die and then I hoped I would"
644td Posted April 11, 2018 Author Share #16 Posted April 11, 2018 Question, when to comes to Westinghouse jungle liners would you consider them rare, desirable,or common.
Longbranch Posted April 11, 2018 Share #17 Posted April 11, 2018 Question, when to comes to Westinghouse jungle liners would you consider them rare, desirable,or common. Uncommon and desirable. Rarity and desirability are two separate things.
Phineaus Posted April 28, 2018 Share #18 Posted April 28, 2018 Man, love the factory camo liner! That canteen is outstanding as well! It puts the whole grouping into context. Great piece of trench art!
644td Posted April 28, 2018 Author Share #19 Posted April 28, 2018 Man, love the factory camo liner! That canteen is outstanding as well! It puts the whole grouping into context. Great piece of trench art! Thanks for the feedback. I have been researching his path and the canteen is dead on for the 82nd chemical Bn. and their travels. The dairy with the few entries in it gives inside to daily Japanese air attacks. Marty
