carrabassett Posted April 6, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2018 Picked this up today with a bunch of WW2 web gear and was wondering if anyone knew what the stenciled symbol meant? Almost looks like a V for victory. Appears to have been the property of a Lt. Col that made 'full bird' as the Lt. has been inked out. Any help would would be appreciated! Thanks, Jim

robinb Posted April 7, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2018 I agree that the V is for victory. And it's done in Morse code as well. Dot dot dot dash.
RustyCanteen Posted April 7, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 7, 2018 Yeah I second RobinB's comment that it is a V for victory done in Morse code, with the code arranged into the shape of a letter 'V'.

Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted April 16, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 16, 2018 I wonder what the tick marks around it mean.
manayunkman Posted April 16, 2018 Share #7 Posted April 16, 2018 This looks like a patriotic symbol. Victory is surrounded by a fort of artillery ready to burst out. If ever captured it's a prophetic message to the enemy. And I'm probably reading way too much into it. Regardless it's awesome and I hope you can find out something about this officer. carrabassett Posted April 16, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted April 16, 2018 Thanks for the comments! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate anything about the officer.

That's what I was kinda thinking, Cannons emanating outward in a 360, taking on all comers for the final Victory.
