Picked this up today with a bunch of WW2 web gear and was wondering if anyone knew what the stenciled symbol meant? Almost looks like a V for victory. Appears to have been the property of a Lt. Col that made 'full bird' as the Lt. has been inked out. Any help would would be appreciated! Thanks,

Jim

Yeah I second RobinB's comment that it is a V for victory done in Morse code, with the code arranged into the shape of a letter 'V'.

This looks like a patriotic symbol.

Victory is surrounded by a fort of artillery ready to burst out.

If ever captured it's a prophetic message to the enemy.

And I'm probably reading way too much into it.

Regardless it's awesome and I hope you can find out something about this officer.

Thanks for the comments! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate anything about the officer.

That's what I was kinda thinking, Cannons emanating outward in a 360, taking on all comers for the final Victory.
