Lucky 7th Armored

This is a very special piece that I just added to my collection. I bought this piece off of a collector in Holland. I can’t help but wonder if this is a homecoming for this musette bag. This M36 Musette bag is named to a Private of the 33rd Armored Engineers. Reported missing on the 23rd of December 1944. With the report dated on the 23rd I assume he was captured during the Allied collapse and withdrawal at St Vith. The German advance was quick and their panzers crushed the allied flanks as CCB was retreating. He sadly died as a POW on 27 January 1945 at Stalag IV B, Muhlberg, Germany. He was disinterred and repatriated on the 8th of August 1947. This is the second 7th AD item in the collection where a soldier was captured during the winter of ‘44-‘45 and died during captivity. I wish I knew the circumstances of his death. I’ll have to order his IDPF. May he Rest In Peace.
