wartimecollectables.com Posted April 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 3, 2018 OK, so can info be deciphered from just the number or does it have to have the Divisional 'design' as well?

Blacksmith Posted April 4, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2018 Hi WTC, number is sufficient, as there was no 100s-place UNIS overlap with the 5th MARDIV. Your cover is a 4th Marine Division cover, with "532" being I-3-25, or I (India) Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment. It looks like glove snaps on the flaps, which would make this a first pattern WWII USMC cover. If they're lift-the-dot fasteners, it's a P2. Very VERY nice cover. You may want to check closely inside and out for a faint laundry stamp, which may allow us to ID the cover to the Marine that carried it. Thanks for posting it.
