SergeantMajorGray Posted March 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2018 I put a Underwood M1 Carbine on layaway at a local shop. It's got no bayonet lug but has the upgraded rear sight. On the stock either near or on the oiler cut out there was RSS stamped in the wood. I can't find anything on what it means. Is their anything special about the stock? I was planning on replacing it as it's missing a chunk on the left side of the receiver and is much lighter color than the dark handgaurd.

SergeantMajorGray Posted March 28, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted March 28, 2018 Seymour Smith R-SS? All I could find for you. It might be R-SS I'll have to check next time I see it. I can't seem to find anything on them making stocks perhaps it's a rare make who knows.
painter777 Posted June 20, 2018 Share #4 Posted June 20, 2018 I know this is an older post, but curious.... If you ended up buying it.... Did the slingwell marking end up being RSG ? Which would be a stock made by The Robert Irwin Co. And was the missing chunk of wood on the left from a scope mount ? Any holes drilled in the left side of the receiver ? Cheers, Charlie-Painter777
