Backtheattack Posted March 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2018 While visiting the Military Museum at Stammheim/Germany last weekend I noticed some tank wrecks outside the museum. Made some pics of an APC I first thought it was an M113 with aluminum hull. But the height was not correct. Did some research at Google and found it was an M59 APC. But this one has only 4 wheels, found a pic of the same variant at the Patton Museum Ft. Knox, while the Ft.Lewis Museum has one with 5 wheels. edstorey Posted March 27, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 27, 2018 The vehicle is a M114 Command and Reconnaissance Vehicle, the M59 was much larger and used a different wheel configuration.

The Meatcan Posted March 28, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 28, 2018 Nice pics, Backtheattack. Can you show more of that M-47 from the background? Terry
USARV72 Posted March 28, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 28, 2018 Ah, 114s, had a 283 Chevy engine, could really move. Our unit " aquired" a 283 from one and put it in a M-37 3/4 ton, straight pipes, was 1st Sgt. vehicle. IIRC it was drove in a very large hole along with lots of other equipment" not on the books", sigh, lots of perfectly good stuff buried and all the M2 Bmgs dropped down a well..... The Meatcan Posted March 29, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 29, 2018 Dänke! The M-47 sure looks in rough shape. The M-26 looks somewhat better. Must have been a lot of fun poking around the old armor! Terry
