Costa Posted March 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2018 stopped off at an antique shop today and took a look around. I was there last year and bought a bunch of ww2 items. I don't know how I over looked these items but, I couldn't believe what I had. the best part was a bronze star named to a William J. Moen who was from New Jersey and later lived in New York. born in 1914 and enlisted in 1942 as to the NARA. but, the best part is his purple heart no named but is numbered and so is the original box with the same. the rest seen was in trays that I picked out. on the purple heart box is a strip of medical tape with PFC. Wm Moen Co. M. cannot find anything else on him, where he served, where buried, nothing but what is on NARA site.

Kadet Posted March 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2018 The slanted hand engraving on the BSM makes that a nice WWII set. Well done!
Patchcollector Posted March 24, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 24, 2018 Nice.Like to see bigger images of the pics,if possible.I just picked up my first bronze star.I'm not a medal collector but it came with a patch so I'm keeping it. It has straight engraving so I guess it's postwar?

stratasfan Posted March 24, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 24, 2018 Here is a cool article that gives you his Bronze Star citation . . . I love that he was on Attu! My GGGUncle died on a bomber during a raid on Kiska, so I am partial to Aleutians vets! Thanks for sharing!
