LIFER Posted March 24, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2018 I have a high ranking USAF hat that has been water damaged. The head band is warped and I was told it needs to be blocked. Having the silver markings on the visor, would it be worth it to get it fixed or look for another. LIFER
patches Posted March 24, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2018 Is it named?
MattS Posted March 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2018 This would probably help: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hallett-CEDAR-pine-Big-Head-Stretcher-Size-7-1-2-to-9-/202222753795

LIFER Posted March 25, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 25, 2018 Hi MattS Thanks for that. It seems it might work. Now I just need to figure out what I would need to keep it in shape and to stay round.
MattS Posted March 25, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2018 I would block the cap using a wood form like the one I posted and leave it in the bathroom when someone was taking a steamy shower. Put the hat still on the form in another room to dry out. The humidity should do the trick.
patches Posted March 25, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 25, 2018 Hi Patches, No, this one is not. Check, that's good then, as if it was named to a high ranking officer, it would of been a bit dicey to throw it out.

I am glad for that. That's what I thought I would have to do.
MattS Posted March 26, 2018 Share #9 Posted March 26, 2018 I'm curious to see how bad this cap is...
LIFER Posted March 26, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted March 26, 2018 Hi Matt I will take a picture of it. I will try to put it on. I had problems before with the re-sizing format, wanting to put photo's on. I will try again.
