Steve Brannan Posted March 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2018 Has anyone seen this wing? Appears that the Flight Engineer 4 propellor insingina was added to an Observer wing. I will add pictures made with another camera. Any observations appreciated.

pfrost Posted March 19, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 19, 2018 yes, I believe I have seen a similar wing. Luxengberg (or rather Blackinton) did make a bunch of the 2 inch wings in most of the rating that were available in WW2/postWW2. There is always a question if someone added the radial engine to an observer wing, but this one looks fine to me.
pfrost Posted March 19, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 19, 2018 I had heard that a number of years ago, someone "commissioned" a whole series of one of the Luxenberg-Blackinton WWII wings to be restruck from original dies. I believe that the difference in these wings and the vintage ones is that the Blackinton or Luxenberg hallmark is absent and that rather than STERLING they are marked STER. Also, I had also heard that He Who Shall Not be Named now owns the copyright to Luxenberg, plans on reproducing these badges (in fact he told this forum as much) and is apparently busy trolling eBay challenging people who are selling Luxenberg-marked stuff (I couldn't make this stuff up!). Things like this make a rather boring hobby of collecting little bits of silver into pure comedic gold! Some oldies but goodies! http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/44492-rare-luxenberg-bombadier-or-not/?hl=%2Bluxenberg+%2Btrademark&do=findComment&comment=341298 http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/131767-luxenberg-hallmarked-jump-wing/?hl=+luxenberg%20+trademark http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/216840-fake-alert-ebay/?hl=%2Bluxenberg+%2Btrademark&do=findComment&comment=1891144 http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/237204-luxenberg-visor-cap-eagle/
