Airborne-Hunter Posted March 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2018 I was under the impression that this was VP-9 in Korea, but when I looked at the Asmic trading post June-September 2003 they had a different patch listed as in use in 1951. Is this the WW2 VP-9, the Korean War VP-9 or something else? Thanks ABN
Salvage Sailor Posted March 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2018 It's a little later in the 1950's.......covered on this topic here http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/210464-unknown-1940s1950s-naval-north-pole-sea-mine-squadron-patch/
bronxboymike Posted March 23, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2018 This is early 50's. I have the patch and plankowner certificate for the squadron featuring the patch. I believe it is dated 50 or 51. I'm out of town now, but will check when I get back to NY.
bronxboymike Posted March 26, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 26, 2018 I 'll post picture when I get a chance to dig it out. But I looked up VP-9's history on VP.org and it says this design was approved by the CNO in 51 and used untill 54. Hope that helps.
