jmpmstr Posted March 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2018 Recently picked this up off eBay recently, udually I see these highly priced; price was too good on this guy. Im happy to have a single in my collection, the other is in a grouping. It is numbered 732. Ive often wondered why the change in contractor to Meyer for these vice other campaign medals by the mint or BB&B etc. It begs the same questions we have today, how can the quality be sacrificed? The darker tone and lack of detail with the finish is just unattractive. Its ironic to me that this is of the more sought early campaigns and IMO less readily available than others, but its just ugly. Anyway, I digress. I have no rolls or reference for these, anyone have any identification based on this number? If you have any single or in a group please feel free to add them. Jim T Posted March 19, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 19, 2018 Anthony: heres my example......an unattributed single also. Lots more loss of definition on the obverse than yours makes me wonder if he wore it reversed like other vets were known to do with their campaign medals. That numbering is a real eye test. paulyp99 Posted April 4, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2018 Here is RDAM R A Theobald's Dominican Campaign along with his other US awarded medals. His Dominican medal is number 50. I also have his rack of mini medals, of which he chose to wear the Dominican Campaign medal backwards.
