Ive had this one for a long while, cant remember where I acquired it. Type 1 issued to Joseph Francis Gothie. He was born May 8, 1898 in Philadelphia and enlisted in Co. K 1st Pa ( NG) . He served with Co K on the Mexican Border. In 1917 the 1st Pa became the th Regiment, 28th Division and arrived in France on May 3rd 1918. He was promoted to corporal June 8th. Gothie fought at St Agnon June-16-18, Chateau-Thierry July-25 to 29., He was lightly gassed on July 29th, but returned to duty quickly and fought at St Mihiel Sept 12 to 16 he then served in the Toul sector from Sept 16 to the armistice. He was discharged at Camp Dix NJ May 18, 1919. He married in the 1920s and died April 3 1971.

In addition to the Purple Heart he should have received a Mexican Border service medal ( number unknown) and a WW1 Victory Medal with 4 bars . He also applied for and received the Pennsylvania Victory Medal and Border Service Medal # 6947. The whereabouts of the other medal are unknown.

You can also try to get the AGO card for the Purple Heart Medal. And perhaps he received additional awards for his WW1 service.

If you use a company called Redbird they try to find the documents for you for an amount of 10 USD per found document.

Questuon: What is the number on the rim of yhe PH?

Regards

Herman

Forgot to add that, its 15931. Thanks BigJohn, I did have his Pa file. If anyone can find out if he was issued a Federal Bor

der Service Medal I'd like to know that number, even though there is a very small chance of finding the actual medal.
