triplecanopy Posted March 16, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 16, 2018 There is not much out there that I could find on this company, E.H. SIMON INC or SIMCO (Simon Company). I believe that this is a Post WWII hallmark as I have encountered it only on pin back examples. The basic parachute badge in the below right position is marked SIMCO and also STERLING. It appears to have a gold wash or is perhaps plated. I will post the reverse sides below.
triplecanopy Posted March 16, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted March 16, 2018 The E.H. Simon INC marked wings are heavy, die struck quality pieces. The SIMCO badge is lighter and may be plated brass since it has a gold tone appearance. It is however marked STERLING. I have not encountered clutch back examples with this hallmark. If anyone has additional information about this company, please let us know.
Lsparks Posted March 17, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 17, 2018 Your Senior and Master badges are post wwii by the mere nature of what they are. Senior wings appeared in the late 40’s and Master wings about 10 years later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
triplecanopy Posted March 18, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted March 18, 2018 Actually the U.S. Army Senior and Master Parachutist Badges were both authorized by Change 4 to Army Regulation 600-70 dated 24 January 1950. Before that date, only the Basic Parachutist badges were authorized even though the higher grades were proposed.
