Martinjmpr Posted March 16, 2018 Share #5 Posted March 16, 2018 Is there a semi-circular "stiffener" in it? And if so, what is the "clock position" of the stiffener? By "clock position" what I mean is if you put the beret on a table with the headband on top (i.e. upside down), with the ribbon ties closest to you at "6:00", where is the stiffener? If it is a US beret, the "stiffener" should be at about the 1:00 position (i.e. top right.) That's because in the US the beret is worn with the flash directly over the left eye. If there is no stiffener or the stiffener is someplace other than over the left eye, it is likely non-US. Many, MANY military forces use that shade of green for their berets. I've seen British (Royal Marines), Canadian, German, and other military forces use that color, it's probably one of the most common beret colors out there after black and maroon.
