Picked this up today. Bernard M. W/o/l/f/e was born in 1917 in Canada, graduated from the USNA (Class of 1937 I think), and spent 2 1/2 years at sea before qualifying as a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer in 1941. He spent 1940/41 at the New York Shipyard and then to Mare Island for the duration of the war which is where he acquired this cap. He was in charge of the team that helped build President Truman's yacht Williamsburg in 1945/46. If I'm reading his service correctly, he left the reserves in 1946 as a 29 year-old commander. He went on to run a paint company, was a real estate developer, and got his law degree from Stanford in 1962 when he was 45. It's a salty cap, but one worn by a very interesting guy!
