Hello all,

I have a quick question regarding insignia worn by aides in the Air Force.

From what I could make out in the regulations, Aides serve Generals O-8 to O-10, as well as high-rank government officials in Defense departments. Here's a sample of the insignia I'm working with, obviously designed to be worn by someone serving a Lieutenant General (or civilian equivalent, presumably).

My question is this: Would the person wearing this have to be an officer, or could it be an enlisted aide?

As always, any info is a big help, and thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!

The one with 3 stars would be for a Lt. General only. Enlisted aides do not wear this type as far as I know. (I could be wrong on this.)

Correct.  These are officer insignia.

Wikipedia (I know, it pains me to even write the word) shows this as an obsolete badge.

They are still being sold by Vanguard, apparently, but don't appear in the USAF Uniform Regulations. But, there is no phase-out date listed, either. Locally authorized, maybe? I've tried to Google some more recent photos of GOs with aides but haven't found anything.

Those aide devices were interesting because they were the only USAF badge worn like army BoS insignia, on the service coat lapel or on the left shirt collar.
