Just a caveat...I don't know who's middle manning the collection between Robin's widow and eMedals, but the inclusion of an Army DSC with Marine Sergeant Hartley's Purple Heart is questionable at best...and is not the way Robin purchased them or maintained them in his collection. dskjl Posted March 7, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted March 7, 2018 The DSC and PH were actually found labeled with small strips of paper in the boxes then joined with the paperwork and set in Manila envelopes for photographing, inventorying, and shipping. It took a couple of weeks to put it all together. If they don't belong together they can be separated and reprised accordingly. They are listed as they were found but that doesn't mean they are correct. If there is an error it wasn't not for a lack of effort and certainly not on purpose. Robin and his wife had recently moved before he took ill and the collection was scattered amongst several boxes. The groups in rikers were only missing the paperwork and boxes for the medals so putting them back together was fairly strait forward. The loose medals, boxes, and paperwork were a different story all together and took up most of two weeks. It is an amazing collection and the rest will be posted on emedals as appraisals are completed. A special thank you to Robert Tarbridge for his support and assistance with the appraising of the collection. Alll of the proceeds less emedals reduced commissions are going to Robin's Widow. I have been working with another forum member on pricing and had the emedals team make recommendations as well. I have asked for several adjustments and they have made them, I have been also reminded that their client base is global and not just collectors but also museums and institution. What the US market will bare or current trends here are not always inline with other international markets etc.... We aren't in a hurry to move the pieces and thus far very happy with the results. I have asked that they take more time on photo graphing the documentation as some of the pieces provenance is really amazing. Suggestions are always welcome, as many of the forum members are familiar with pieces and may have even owned them at some point. Just curious of the process you went through! Cheers Im assisting Robins widow, that sort of makes me the middle man I guess. I promised Robin I would help take care of dissolving the collection. This all happened in the last days of his life and although overwhelmed by the duty im Honored to facilitate the sale. The family attorney with my input was given a couple of options on how to move the collection and after some serious deliberation it was decided to go with Emedals. It was a tough call as Tarbridge was the 1st choice but because of some of the collections content it sent to Emedals. Tarbridge has been an amazing help, his knowledge and generosity is greatly appreciated. If any forum members see something they are interested in or have specific information they would like to share please let me know. I've never dealt with them before, but I have to say...I bought the group, paid for FedEx express (the value was worth the $) and had the group the next day. It was the USMC group to Dewey McAllister. Had a GCM and. 2nd Nic.
