Bob Hudson Posted March 4, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2018 This blade has a shape I think I've seen before, but I can't find online another Ontario-made blade like it. Based on what I've see elsewhere on the forum, this style of marking was used during the Vietnam era, but I don't know for how long before and after. Bob Hudson Posted March 4, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted March 4, 2018 So, was this modified or made this way?
tankerman Posted March 4, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2018 IMO; it was modified. If it was a known model the Son Tay raiders would not have had to modify theirs; if I remember correctly. Resembles a DAH as used by Allies in CBI. A nicely done and very usable modification. Could possibly have been in-country but I lean to it being a home shop job. Bob Hudson Posted March 4, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted March 4, 2018 . It came in this canvas case which provides good proptection but has no belt loop or hooks: I imagine the case was made for something else: it appears to have had straps that were cut off (see backside photo):
Bob Hudson Posted March 5, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 5, 2018 The blade is 13.5 inches long.
Big Al Posted March 16, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 16, 2018 Maybe it was meant to be worn on the back, on either the rear straps of a pair of M1956 suspenders, or possibly on a USMC M1941 suspender.
