Proud Kraut Posted February 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 28, 2018 I visited the National Military History Museum in Diekirch, Luxembourg last weekend. A fantastic museum mainly focused on WW II and the Battle of the Bulge but also covering other eras of Luxembourg's military history. I have started to post some pictures here: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/139262-national-military-history-museum/ It was my third visit. When visiting the museum this time I remembered that Luxembourg soldiers served in the Korean war as well. A Belgian/Luxembourg contingent was attached to 7th Inf Rgt 3rd Inf Div . I'm posting some pictures of insignia, medals and Ike uniforms with their specific insignia for your interest.

Captainofthe7th Posted February 28, 2018 Share #8 Posted February 28, 2018 Wow, thank you for posting. I like the combination of U.S. and British insignia. The uniforms are beautiful. It will be a long long time before I can find one to add to my personal collection. It's very good to see such nice and undoubtedly original examples on display. I have seen other countries Korean War displays and they are...well, questionable. Rob

doyler Posted March 2, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 2, 2018 Nice photos Did you get any of the knife or the medals and jump wing that were closer.Any further info on them in the display? Thanks for posting.
mortaydc60 Posted March 2, 2018 Share #12 Posted March 2, 2018 Super important fact missed so far was that there was only 85 members from the country and they were incorporated into the Belgium unit. Two were killed and 13 wounded. Believe only less than 5 remain alive.
Proud Kraut Posted March 3, 2018 Author Share #13 Posted March 3, 2018 Nice photos Did you get any of the knife or the medals and jump wing that were closer.Any further info on them in the display? Thanks for posting. Ron, I took hundreds of pictures this time. Unfortunately not much more of this display which is only a very small section of the museum. Here's the rest of my Korea section pics: (at least the grip of the knife seems to be visible)

patches Posted March 7, 2018 Share #18 Posted March 7, 2018 A superb display, did notice two errors U.S. patch wise, the Cav patch is not WWII Era as would of been worn in the early 50s, but rather a 1968-post 1968 AG 44 Merrowed edge one, while the 3rd Div avbove it is the 1958-1968 AG 44 flat edge, maybe you can notify them and get a flat edge OD borders to them. Also that Blue on Gold 1948 Cpl stripe is most interesting, I suppose it's Japanese made, or do we think it might of been a Belgian made example? Gunslinger Posted March 20, 2018 Share #19 Posted March 20, 2018 Neat piece of Military history. The Free Luxembourgish Forces were formed & merged with the Belgian Brigade Piron during WWII. It's a very interesting piece of History that is often overlooked. CDub
