Papas-Toybox Posted February 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2018 I saw someone else had posted a metal earth model post, but his picture was of a German Tank. Here are a few I have completed for US Militaria. These are fun to build, but do take a nice set on mini pliers with multiple type ends. I purchased a nice 6 piece set of tools awhile back and they make building these much more enjoyable. I like the small size, similar to 1/72 or 1/76 as I can have lots of them on the shelf and not take up too much room.
Proud Kraut Posted February 26, 2018 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2018 PT, thanks very much for sharing your metal earth kits here! They are looking very good. I especially like the Sherman tank very much. I once tried to build one but quit after a while. Several parts broke when being bended, so my deep respect for building these kits, well done! Papas-Toybox Posted February 27, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted February 27, 2018 A set of small pliers makes assembling them a lot easier. The SR-71 Blackbird was the hardest since you have to round out the top and bottom halves. I've attached some pics of the tools I bought to do these. The second pic shows the one I use to make clean bends. Some are Craftsman and some are from Menards.
huntssurplus Posted February 27, 2018 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2018 These are really cool! Is that a p51 in the bottom right? Thanks for sharing, Hunt
Papas-Toybox Posted February 27, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted February 27, 2018 The individual pics are Sherman, F4U Corsair, and P-51 Mustang. The others are F-22 Raptor and B-2 Bomber. Un-assembled I still have AH-64 Apache, Fokker D-VII, another P-51 Mustang, UH-1 Huey, another F-22 Raptor, some german and Russian tanks, Wright Brothers Plane, and several other non-military ones. Kids and grand kids know I like building them so on my birthday and for Christmas I usually get 1 or 2 more.
