FortJohn Posted February 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2018 Small grouping of Carl F. Crooks. There is a bible with a shrapnel hole in it with three different letters in it telling that he was wounded with 33 pieces of shrapnel. That the bible saved his life. A box for the victory medal. A medal given to him from the borough of Vandergrift, PA. The hole is just left of the 28th patch. It tore through 83 pages. His son was in the 434th Troop carrier group. I also have a small grouping from him also. I think he worked in the control tower. Thanks Greg.

manayunkman Posted February 25, 2018 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2018 Love those 28th ID groups. I bet that there are still hundreds of 28th ID groups from WW1 that haven't surfaced yet.

jonesy1275 Posted February 25, 2018 Share #11 Posted February 25, 2018 Greg, I'd be interested in seeing the son's grouping. The 434th TCG were stationed at Aldermaston some 35 miles away from my house.
