Pip Posted February 20, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2018 I bought an old briefcase filled with papers and photos and it turned out to be the personal briefcase of Francis Case a senator from the South Dakota. Its filled with cool things including two of these old posters. I am trying to determine what date this might come from?

Pip Posted February 20, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted February 20, 2018 After looking closer at Francis Case it looks like he was in the USMC in WWI. He had a bunch of photos that seem newer than WWI to me . I will post them in this thread instead of a new one. He had alot of photos of planes and parachuters

Brig Posted February 21, 2018 Share #16 Posted February 21, 2018 That poster would look killer in our Marine Recruiting office in Rapid City! I think the brass might frown on that...the Corps tends to selectively forget Butler's post-war history. That said, they are neat, and would look neat next to that check of yours

stucky151 Posted February 21, 2018 Share #19 Posted February 21, 2018 They didnt forget of his Marine Corps exploits, just the post service reputation of the man. i am always awestruck about the lack of knowledge of our history by our current service members. Brig Posted February 22, 2018 Share #20 Posted February 22, 2018 Officially, we have a habit of whitewashing out history Notice we don't say much about the Civil War in those bootcamp history classes
