Seabee Buckle

Does anyone here have any information on an open face Navy belt buckle that was called the "Seabee buckle," but which had no type of insignia or other markings/engravings/abbreviations to associate it with the Seabees? I suspect it was worn with the old Camouflage Utility Uniform and dubbed "Seabee buckle" because that uniform was authorized as organizational clothing for all personnel in the Naval Construction Forces, but on the other hand it was authorized for a lot of non-Seabee units as well.

Here's what it looks like. Any info would be hugely appreciated.

I actually have one of those. It's on a classic web belt with a black tip. It was issued along with the green fatigues, boots, 782 gear I got while assigned to an amphibious boat group. I always assumed it, like all the rest, was Army.

In the Navy this buckle was authorized for anyone wearing utility greens or, later, camo uniforms. So Seabees wore it, but so did a lot of others. Marines wore it, too.

To me, it is the subdued trousers belt buckle worn by the Army since around 1970 with fatigues and later BDU's. I don't think it is specific to any one of the services.

. I have to agree. Just a subdued buckle worn on a black belt with a subdued tip.
