mwesson030 Posted February 19, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2018 Thoughts on the helmet? The wear is somewhat strange in my opinion as the shell in decent shape, but the liner is so rotted out. I wonder what this one will go for.... its sitting at 810$ USD with 5 days to go on the auction.

Justin Posted February 19, 2018 Share #7 Posted February 19, 2018 Looks like most of the damage is mostly due to poor storage, what a shame. But a nice one none the less.

Burning Hazard Posted February 19, 2018 Share #11 Posted February 19, 2018 Don't see any red flags; looks like a beauty of a D-bail and very scarce with both straps intact. Will probably sell for big $$$ Pat

38Driver Posted February 20, 2018 Share #15 Posted February 20, 2018 A question for the helmet crowd. You end up with this particular helmet in your collection. What do you do with its condition? The reason I ask is recently I got a WW2 flying helmet set up that had the same been in storage in someones basement too long look. I posted what I did with it in the aviation forum here: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/305611-usaaf-used-type-c-helmet-gods-were-shining/ My assumption is the same approach with a helmet like this M2 would be seen as almost criminal. Am I reading that right?

Im sure most would agree to leave it as is. Any tampering will lower the value for most collectors.

Am I reading that right? If I got this helmet then I'd put it into my display cabinet and leave it as is; my room is at perfect room temperature and low moisture so that stops any rust from propagating further. No oils, No chemicals, No washing. Just keep the helmet at room temperature and low moisture and that's all. Pat
Screamingeagles101 Posted February 20, 2018 Share #18 Posted February 20, 2018 I am currently the highest bidder. I’d really like to get this one. What do you think I’d have to end up paying to get it on my shelf? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

USMC-RECON0321 Posted February 20, 2018 Share #21 Posted February 20, 2018 Looks like a great helmet so far. He states it comes from a house, but no further info on that. Would be nice if he kept an address to help in the research. Or the town even. Here is a link to the auction (he has nearly 80 watchers already so I don't think I'm giving any secrets away) and looks like he is getting the usual questions. https://www.ebay.com/itm/132509038010?ViewItem=&item=132509038010 Do you have a buy it now price in mind? toogundan : Hi. No buy it now on any of my auctions. Good luck in bidding. Thanks. Ed Do you know what the heat stamp number is in the shell? toogundan : Hi. Like I said. It is under some rust. So it is very hard to make out. I will look at it again and try to make the numbers out. Thanks. Ed Would you have a buy it now price? toogundan : hi I do not have any buy it now on any of my auctions. good luck in bidding. thanks ED What is the heat stamp number on the inside of the helmet? Thanks toogundan : Hi. Where the numbers are there is some rust so it is very hard to see any numbers. Thanks. Ed Hello, would you consider an offer? I know what it’s worth and an willing to pay up. What would it take to buy it now? toogundan : Hi. There is bidding already on this helmet. Would not be fair to the current bidders. Good luck in bidding. Thanks. ccmax Posted February 20, 2018 Share #22 Posted February 20, 2018 Slight cleaning of the inner part of the liner and then careful preservation, checking on it from time to time.
